Steven Bernard “Doc” Moore Sr. has lived a life shaped by global service, cultural discovery, and a passion for storytelling. Throughout his distinguished career in the Department of Defense, Doc and the Moore Ohana, his beautiful wife Tanya Lynn, son Steven Jr., and daughters Te’Arra, and Ta’Tianna were stationed across Europe and Asia, immersing themselves in cultures around the world. From standing atop the Great Wall of China to witnessing the majesty of the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, Doc has spoken with people from every walk of life. These conversations, experiences, and encounters fuel the powerful narratives in his Anthology of Horror series.
Doc is a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant (MSG), having proudly served 21 years, 2 months, and 15 days. His military career includes a combat tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003, where he earned the Bronze Star Medal for combat intelligence operations with the Joint Special Operations Task Force–North (JSOTF–N), 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He also received the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding service during the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) a testament to his dedication, leadership, and sacrifice.
Doc’s commitment to education is as remarkable as his military service. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from Drake University in Iowa, followed by a Master of Public Administration from Troy University in Alabama while serving on active duty. He later completed his academic journey by obtaining a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University in Minnesota. This strong academic foundation enhances both the depth of his research and the quality of his writing.
Beyond the battlefield and classroom, Doc is a professional musician with a lifelong love of rhythm and storytelling through song. Doc Moore & The Moore Ohana Band have released numerous original compositions available on all major streaming platforms including iTunes, Amazon Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Spotify.
Doc is the creator of the chilling and insightful Anthology of Horror series, where he blends global travel with firsthand accounts, interviews, and research into the paranormal and unexplained. Doc Moore Sr. now resides in Hawai‘i with his wife, Tanya Lynn. When not writing, working, or making music, you’ll find them enjoying island life swimming at Bellows Beach in Waimānalo or fishing at Tracks in Nānākuli.
